The SurfDock

Probably the closest water sport activity located to Jacobs Inn Hostel. This is Dublin city’s urban watersport centre and pro shop. You can get up to all kinds of antics like wake boarding and stand up paddle boarding

Surfdock Watersports was established in the Grand Canal Dock in 1991, starting out as a windsurf school and shop. For more than 20 years they were  based on the decommissioned Naomh Eanna, the old Galway-Aran Island Ferry, but since 2013 they re-located on the quayside.

Today they are  Dublin’s No 1 watersports shop and school offering a unique combination of activities with a shop for all the equipment to go with it.

They teach paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing for beginners here in the Grand Canal Dock and offer intermediate paddleboarding classes and trips in and around Dublin as well as intermediate windsurfing in the Malahide Estuary.

They  also run SUP Yoga classes with Ireland’s only qualified SUP Yoga instructor Alexa von Zett of Dublin SUP Yoga Fitness and Urban Yoga Dublin.

Their group sessions are popular for kids birthday parties, corporate events and hen/stag dos from April to October and our busiest time of the year are the summer holidays when we run Dublin’s most exciting summer camp for children and youth from 8 to 16 years. With an opportunity to try everything from kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, paddleboarding and ringo rides, we had more than 700 participants in 2017.

You can rent wetsuits from us for your trips west or a dip at a Dublin beach. They rent kayaks and paddleboards for use in the Grand Canal Dock or, if you have appropriate transport you can rent them to go and explore the waterways and lakes in the country or to go for a paddle in Dublin Bay. Experience in paddleboarding is required for rentals.
