Day Trip From Dublin – A Coastal Walk for Coffee

Looking for something different to do in Dublin this Autumn ?
Another lazy day at the local coffee shop…? Or why not challenge yourself to break out of the Auld City and take a half day trip from Dublin and a Coastal walk for Coffee just for a change . Dublin is surrounded by sea and mountains and there are some great half day trips to get you out of the city.Fresh air and nature is but a hop, skip, and a dart ride away

One day last week I woke up and decided to do it that way, a different way…After a pretty healthy breakfast in the Third Space on Smithfield, right beside Jameson Distillery , I took the Luas and got to Connolly Station. Oh yeah… I dropped in to Jacobs Inn (it was on the way) just to say “hello” to the Lads at the Reception and be sociable . Anyway… From Connolly I got to Bray in 30 minutes by Dart. Good scenario on arrival as always, nice , refreshing breeze and relaxing smell of nature! Sound!!

I knew my destination from the time I boarded the Luas on Smithfield… I was heading to the “The Happy Pear”, in Greystones, for a cup of delicious coffee but the challenge for my caffeine hit was the Cliffside walk from Bray to get to Greystones.

day trip from dublinThis signposted walk on the Cliffside from Bray to Greystones is a pretty good hike for amateurs as well as pros… It is never busy. A reasonable path , far from cars and noise, away from concrete jungle, with stunning sea views from the South County Dublin Coastline .Pure nature!

It takes about 1.5 to 2 leisurely hours. About 5 km further along the path from Bray , Greystones appears on the horizon and I know that in 15 minutes I will be sitting and enjoying super delicious coffee! “The Happy Pear” is a small locally organized and run organic food and coffee shop, with own micro roastery. Highly recommended for everyone, especially for coffee maniacs and vegetarians !!the happy pear

After an invigorating 2 hour walk and steaming aromatic coffee in front of me I was alternately proud and refreshed .

The big dilemma then is ” Should one walk back along the Cliffs or take the easy option of Train (Dart ) back from Greystones to Dublin?” I would of course need another Happy Pear special to think about it!
